Science Connection Magazine
Every year, the Mellon College of Science (MCS) at Carnegie Mellon University creates a college magazine, “Science Connection”. The publication highlights student, faculty, alumni, and staff stories from throughout the year and includes editorial, interview, and technical articles. Scope of work included:
• Cover design and illustration
• Cover Animation for digital formats
• Layout and text setting
• Editing imagery
• Proofreading
• Print coordination
• Project management

50 Years of Science… and Counting
The 2018 issue celebrated the 50th anniversary of MCS, noting the major developments of the school over the years while acknowledging the college’s history.
The Future of Science is Here
In 2019, the “Science Connection” looked towards the future of science. MCS set an intention of “cutting the cord” on science by focusing on automation and streamlining experiments.
Stronger Together: Responding to Covid-19
2020 brought unanticipated hurdles to higher education, and MCS had to pivot to accommodate it’s community. The 2020 issue highlighted the college’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Building for the Future
The future of science was back in focus for the 2021 issue of “Science Connection” with the announcement of a Cloud Lab, remote research, and a plan for a new building. MCS was creating blueprints for a scientific revolution.
